HERE BE SPOILERS!An anomaly appears in the luxury flat of unsympathetic millionaire Sir Richard Bentley, reducing his young aide to powder. When Bentley touches it he is gradually taken over by a flesh-eating fungus, turning him into a mushroom-like monster, the same fate befalling one of Johnson’s spies seeking the artefact in the ARC. Sir James finally appoints the enthusiastic Danny as Nick Cutter’s replacement to track down the erstwhile Sir Richard whilst Connor discovers that the only way to dispose of the creature is exposure to extremely low temperatures. The job is done but Jenny sees an old photograph which reminds her of her previous identity as Claudia, prompting her to move on. The team must protect London from a deadly, spreading fungus that could wipe out the entire city’s population.
